Choosing a Repair Shop
Here are some
guidelines to use when shopping for a transmission repair center.
The facility should be a member of
either of these automatic transmission technical support affiliations;
Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) or Automatic
Transmission Service Group (ATSG).
The facility operator should be
willing to provide you with a worst-case estimate, before starting work on
your vehicle. If the conversation seems vague, get it in writing. See PRICES.
The facility should provide a full
coverage warranty. A 3 year warranty has become the industry standard among
reputable shops.
The facility should have the
equipment specifically designed for working on advanced, late-model
transmissions.
The technicians should have the
skills and aptitude essential in diagnosing today’s sophisticated
transmission problems.
Never allow yourself to be
pressured into authorizing service until all of your questions have been
answered.
